Independent Online Radio Station Free FM has been suspended by a social media giant who claims that the station's 'account' has breached its 'Community Standards', then removed a post on another platform when it questioned why.
Free FM, part of Free Radio Network had one of its Social Media accounts suspended on Saturday 8 February, 2025 for what it says has breached it's 'Community Standards'.
Station founder and Content Director, Daniel Thomas posted on another platform using the Free FM page questioning how it had breached the 'Community Standards' when it had not even posted anything on the account.
The social media company has since removed the post on its other account claiming that it has also breached its 'Community Standards'
Response from Social Media Company of why they have removed post on other platform
Claims of how the Free FM Post has breached the 'Community Standards'
In the post on the other platform, Daniel Thomas identified himself at the beginning saying "Good afternoon, Daniel here.", and at the end tagged his Public Profile page Daniel Thomas, and also the station's parent business, Free Radio Network. The post questioned why its other Social Media account had been suspended, and also tagged the Social Media Brand, as well as the parent companies business page. The claim is that our brand was ' Creating a Page that looks like it belongs to a brand or business', "Pretending a Page has a business relationship with a business, celebrity or public figure', and also 'Using a Page to promote scams, gambling or online pharmacies'.
While our business understands the Social Media Company is trying to protect its members/subscribers from online scams, we believe that we have not breached its 'Community Standards' as claimed, as the master account used has all associated pages and accounts linked.
Free FM and Free Radio Network were registered business names with ASIC, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission on Wednesday 5th February 2025
